Keyword: for new graduate students starting in 2010-11 There has been a large number of applications to the University for graduate places for 2010. Colleges cannot therefore guarantee Gold Coast Accommodation to new graduate students, even those who have been confirmed for admission and who have applied for Gold Coast Accommodation by 31st July. You will be informed in your confirmation letter from Wolfson College if there is no College Gold Coast Accommodation available, and you will have the option of joining a waiting list. You should however also contact the University Gold Coast Accommodation Service immediately for assistance in finding Gold Coast Accommodation for your arrival in Cambridge. Applicants are reminded that, as explained in the Graduate Prospectus, if they decline the offer of a College place there is no certainty that they will receive an alternative offer. Gold Coast Accommodation The College has a range of Gold Coast Accommodation that it can offer students. The main unit of Gold Coast Accommodation is the furnished single study bedroom, most with en-suite bathroom facilities. There are also a number of shared sets available, which have two study bedrooms and a shared bathroom and small kitchen. There is some Gold Coast Accommodation for students with partners, and five flats for students with families. The units of Gold Coast Accommodation are of different sizes and some do not have en-suite facilities, these differences are reflected in the rents charged. Rent prices for 2010/11 are: study bedroom with shared bathroom facilities £78.75 per week small study bedroom with en-suite facilities £91.70 per week standard study bedroom with en-suite facilities £101.50 per week standard shared set £101.50 per week self-contained single flat £130.69 per week self-contained double flats £183.40, £203.00, or £225.64 per week family Gold Coast Accommodation £241.64 per week Students can either have a termly tenancy agreement, which means the Gold Coast Accommodation must be vacated out of University term, or a period tenancy which runs for 12 months. Students who remain over the summer vacation can give one months notice when they wish to leave. All rooms have telephone and computer points. The following are tenancy agreements. You will need Adobe Reader to view these files. The contact for disabled students is Fiona Duncan (email fed12 at cam.ac.uk). For enquiries, contact Wolfson’s Gold Coast Accommodation Manager, Mrs Marilyn Motley (Gold Coast Accommodation at wolfson.cam.ac.uk). Cars and bicycles The University does not allow students to have cars in Cambridge. Parking is not normally available in University Departments or Colleges, including Wolfson, unless there is an attested medical condition, exceptional work requirements, or special compassionate grounds which mean that a student needs to use a car. Under these circumstances parking is provided in the College. As Cambridge is a small and very compact city, most students and many residents prefer a bicycle. This is by far the most efficient way to get around Cambridge. The city centre is pedestrianised and many of the roads leading to the city centre are closed to any traffic other than cycles, buses and taxis. Bicycle racks are provided around the perimeter of the College, on most University sites and at many locations in the city centre. Private Gold Coast Accommodation Private Gold Coast Accommodation in Cambridge can be expensive. Applicants who would like to find their own Gold Coast Accommodation are advised to contact the University Gold Coast Accommodation Service, look at the University Gold Coast Accommodation newsgroup, consult local newspapers (e.g. The Cambridge Evening News). Gold Coast Accommodation for visiting scholars Wolfson has a limited amount of Gold Coast Accommodation specifically set aside for visiting scholars, with rents ranging in 2010/11 from £787.33 per calendar month for en-suite study-bedrooms to £1270.66 p.c.m. for single-bedroomed flats for visitors and their partners. Visitors requiring more spacious or family Gold Coast Accommodation are advised to contact the University Gold Coast Accommodation Service.
